Spaces In Between

Zoran Poposki is featured in the exhibition "Spaces in Between: An International Exhibition from the Transart Collective" at ConcentArt in Berlin, Germany, opening on August 1, 2010.
The exhibition focuses on the individual perception of liminal spaces (be it physical, psychological, spiritual, sociological, or political), as a demarcation point or a threshold to be crossed, as a space marked by indeterminacy, openness and ambiguity, by mobility, transition, or even disorientation.
The exhibition brings together the work of more than 20 artists from the UK, Malta, USA, Israel, Canada, Egypt, Austria, Macedonia, and the Philippines.

City Tour 2000-2010

In Zoran Poposki's latest project, entitled "City Tour 2000-2010", the artist hires a licensed tourist guide to give him a tour of the cultural landmarks created during the last decade in Skopje, the city he has lived in since his birth.
The tour of the new icons of the urban cultural landscape is set out against a background of massive economic and social transformation of public space in this post-socialist city, resulting in an increased need for interpretation of this new topography of meaning.

Photo documentation of the tour can be seen here.

Portrait of the Artist as a Cultural Worker

Straight from artist Zoran Poposki's living room, and co-produced by curator Goran Gjorgievski, comes the latest performance in urban public space in Skopje, entitled "Portrait of the Artist as a Cultural Worker".
In this performative tryptich (composed of the performances "Thesis", "Sweet Movie", and "Working Class Hero"), Poposki reflects on the nature of immaterial artistic labor as paradigmatic in the post-fordist economy, as well as on his own artistic practice focused almost exclusively on public space as a place for representation and discursive action.

Poposki's performance is realized as part of "Curatorial Workshop", a project by Goran Gjorgievski, curator at the National Gallery of Macedonia - Mala Stanica. Curatorial Workshop is conceived as a project where the curator is photographed with the artist in the context of his/her work.
