Bio

Zoran Poposki (PhD, MFA) is a transdisciplinary artist, curator, and art educator. He explores cultural translation, liminality, identity, and public space through printmaking, painting, drawing, photography, performance, video, and publishing.

Work shown in 70 exhibitions, screenings and festivals in USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and China. Public art projects on urban LED screens, video billboards, posters and billboards in NYC, Skopje, Dublin, Hong Kong, etc. 


He has exhibited alongside some of the major names in contemporary artistic production, including Gerhard Richter, Nam Jun Paik, Allora and Calzadilla, Xu Bing, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jenny Holzer, Olafur Eliasson, William Eggleston, Thomas Ruff, Robert Cahen, Sebastiao Salgado, etc. His works have been selected for juried and curated exhibitions by prominent international curators and critics, including Donald Kuspit (Professor Emeritus of art history and philosophy, SUNY), Elisabeth Sussman (Curator, Whitney Museum, NYC), Deborah Cullen (Director and Head Curator, Gallery of the Columbia University New York), etc.

Education: Executive Certificate in International Leadership in Visual Arts Management (New York University, University of Deusto, Guggenheim Bilbao), PhD Cultural Studies (EuroBalkan University Skopje), MFA New Media (Donau Universitat Krems and Transart Institute New York). 


Artist residencies include: School of Visual Arts (New York), Wooloo (Berlin), Pacific Northwest College of Art (Portland, OR), Vermont Studio Center, etc.

Collected in the Luciano Benetton Foundation's Imago Mundi collection (Italy) and Videotage Media Art Collection (Hong Kong), archived in the AUP archive (a project of e-flux in collaboration with the Serpentine Gallery London), and featured in Saatchi Art collections. 

Author of a book on artist interventions in public space.
Researcher in the fields of visual semiotics, practice-based research, civic art, and immaterial artistic practice.
